Leaving at 6:40 am.
One Day and 3 states later.
Saw the world's largest ball of twine in Cawker City, Kansas
Turner Falls in Oklahoma. Random stop, but turned out to be a lot of fun. We were wishing we knew what it had so we could have been a little more prepared. There were places to swim in the falls...hiking trails...caves...picnic areas...play areas. And fortunately it's still winter rates so it was about 1/3 of the cost. Score! The only downside was all the people.
Our hike...where a toddler could walk and a stroller could walk. So really we didn't hike much.
A picture from the highway above the falls.
We ended up staying in Fort Worth, Texas. But first we had a little Chick-fil-a. I really wish one would come to Nebraska. I was too hungry to take a picture.
Before heading to San Antonio, where we were meeting up with Donovan's parents and brother and his wife, we went to Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas. The boys had a great time here climbing rocks and hiking. Well as much as a 4 year old and 2 year old can do. The weather was beautiful and we saw a lot of beautiful country. After leaving the park, we took two lane highways for a lot of the trip. It was great...especially since the speed limit was 75! The scenery was great, not much traffic and way way better than our jaunt through Austin. On the way home, we're totally finding highways. You can tell we're from small town Nebraska, we despise traffic and would rather keep moving even if overall the trip is longer.
There were three locations where there are dinosaur footprints in the rivers.
Donovan is re-creating old vacation pictures. The vehicle:
This picture cracks me up. Donovan and I look nice and well the boys...
He was having a blast. He really didn't want to leave. He's taking after his daddy and loves to climb.
More to come!
